So it has occurred for me for some time now that I have been seriously lacking in the blog department, having been in utterly care-free mode in the most negative sense. Additionally, topics of conversation to ebb and flow, with many coming at once. After weeks of debating very little of anything, with anyone, this week many things have been on my mind. The Royal Wedding, the Monarchy in general, the Olympics, Victorian literature, Horror films, and that old favourite, how much we all hate the government. Another thing which has come to mind recently, is that I take a lot of photographs, and although I've never studied photography in any way, or have ever used a real camera, I still like to take arty photographs, almost exclusively of architecture. As I do this practically every week, I feel that even when I am once again feeling a sense of writer's block, at the very least I will be able to keep up with something image related.
Whereas writing about public events, world news, politics or whatever else I blog about (I'm finding it a little ironic right now that "blog" is underscored red as a spelling mistake, on blogger.com of all sites) can take a back seat (or be completely disregarded) when feeling emotionally shit (which is quite a common occurrence at the moment given the circumstances), one thing I do almost without fail is walk around London for hours and hours at a time. And take many, many photographs in the process. Yesterday I went into the City of London, being a favourite weekend haunt of mine when the streets and alleys are empty of bankers and businessmen, and are instead lonely and quiet, almost completely uninhabited.
